Ignite Sault team is proud to announce the SSM EDC as one of our gold sponsors for Ignite Sault 2011.
We asked Terri Chiarello, Business Development Advisor of EDC about their involvement in this year’s event:
Oftentimes, a little inspiration — encouragement in the right direction, if you will — is what turns a business idea into an actual business. When we heard about Ignite Sault, our team immediately saw the potential of this event to inspire citizens. The EDC — particularly our Business Sault Ste. Marie division — aims to inspire clients to start a new business or expand their existing business. Simply put, the EDC and Ignite Sault complement each other, which is why we’re pleased to be a part of the event.
We’re looking forward to meet with people and listen to their ideas, especially on the entrepreneurship front. Inspiration is a two-way street. We hope to learn from others and also share some of the Sault’s entrepreneurial success stories. When all is said and done, we hope to inspire . . . and get inspired.
Given the wide range of speakers, it is difficult to pick one that sounds the most interesting. Suffice to say, we look forward to hearing all of them.
Ignite Sault team is proud to announce Jeannette’s Custom Cakes as one of our sponsors for Ignite Sault 2011.
We asked Jeannette Orazietti, business owner and custom cake designer about her involvement in this year’s event:
I was approached last year by some friends of mine who were involved in it, when approached again, I couldn’t say no. It was a success and I really enjoyed it. I’m a big supporter of this city, I enjoy events where other people like me get together and share thoughts and experiences.
I’m looking forward to debuting some new cupcakes and hearing how much information people can fit into 5 minutes
Curt O’Neil for sure, not only because he’s a good friend of mine, but because his work is awesome. Also Terri Chiarello, the EDC helped me start my business, and we can always learn more!
Ignite Sault team is proud to announce SooNews.ca as one of our sponsors for Ignite Sault 2011.
We asked Jake Cormier, Manager / Developer of SooNews.ca – The Sault’s Homepage about their involvement in this year’s event:
We like to associate with forward thinking, community oriented organizations. Our community is very important to us, so we like to help out wherever we can. Organizations like IgniteSault offer a grassroots approach to positive input into the community, so sponsoring this event was a no-brainer for us.
We’re looking forward to seeing just how big a message one is capable of fitting into 5 minutes. It’ll also be interesting to see what kind of fascinating ideas are rolling around in the heads of our neighbours, and how excitedly the audience reacts to them.
Susan Hunter’s presentation on advertising will certainly be interesting, since that’s the only product we sell. We’re looking forward to seeing Debbie Amaroso’s presentation on community participation in local government — something we’ve long thought to be critically important but overlooked. The “cool stuff” presentations like Curt’s 3-continent photo slideshow, Bill Cole’s presentation on forests, and Luc Deschene’s talk on serendipity will be a welcome break from the more “serious” presentations but may very well turn out the be the most entertaining and educational of the lot. Really, the whole evening’s line up looks fascinating. We can’t wait!
Ignite Sault returns by popular demand on February 10, 2011 at The Grande Theatre. Ignite Sault’s innovative approach to sharing ideas and igniting passions works because of the format. Each presenter gets only five minutes and 20 slides to tell us their story. With this format, we get a lot of information but it doesn’t take a lot of time. The event this year will host 12 passionate speakers and also boasts food, drinks, games and prizes. It’s a great opportunity to network with others in the Sault.
